Frédéric Gies is a dancer and a choreographer. He creates his pieces alone or in collaboration with other artists (Jefta van Dinther, DD Dorvillier, Daniel Jentasch, Manuel Pelmus, Bruno Pocheron, Isabelle Schad, Alice Chauchat, Frédéric de Carlo, and Odile Seitz). He was one of the co-initiators of the collective praticable. He occasionally dances in pieces of other choreographers (Jefta van Dinther, Antonja Livingstone, Petra Sabisch, Isabelle Schad). Since 2012, he is Senior lecturer in choreography at DOCH in Stockholm, where he directs the MA in choreography. His work focuses on the articulation of dance, choreography and politics, and more precisely on how dance and choreography can address politics in a non-representational way.
