Kareth Schaffer (1987, USA/NL), is a choreographer and performer who lives and works in Berlin. After studies in anthropology and the social sciences, she graduated with a BA in “Dance, Context, Choreography” from HZT Berlin. She gained notoriety as moderator-to-be-reckoned-with during her conceptual mudwrestling tournament, Mudwrestling for Meg, from 2012. Other works include the opener of Berlin’s Tanztage 2014, As Easy As 1, 2, 3, the quartet Closer to Us Than We Are to Ourselves, and the solo works OPFER/The Sacrifice of Kareth Schaffer and Walking in Circles. In 2014 Kareth will research the craft of foley as a choreographic tool as recipient of Tanzrecherche NRW scholarship in Düsseldorf.
