Based on the stage figure of \u2018the inconsolable\u2019 – an imaginary character marked by the loss of community, dignity and hope – the artists transform the allegory of the suffering subject into a concrete stage situation in an attempt to reclaim it, to take it away from reactionary politics and religion and back into the sphere of social solidarity and progressive artistic practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this edition of Tanznacht 2020, overshadowed by ongoing restrictions and emergency conditions, the artists have turned their original stage work, the solo ROGER, into a living installation. The basic setting of the solo \u2013 a body trapped in a corner between two walls \u2013 is reduced to its constituent elements: the space, the presence of the performer, a single light source. Those elements are then (dis)played inside a new constellation \u2013 stripped of their choreographic form \u2013 in order to unveil the singularity of their presence and duration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The solo work ROGER, a source for this installation, will be presented in its full stage form at the second part of Tanznacht in July 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roger Sala Reyner<\/strong> (Spain, 1981) graduated from the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) and the Institut del Teatre in Barce- lona. He has co-created works with Simon Tanguy and been engaged as a performer in the works of Meg Stuart, Jefta van Dinther, Guillaume Marie a.o. He is founder and a mem- ber of John The Houseband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Guillaume Marie<\/strong> (b. 1980, France) graduated from the Ballet School of The Paris Opera and the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris. Guillaume has created works with his company \u00abTazcorp\/\u00bb since 2006 and started an ongoing collaboration with Igor Dobri\u010di\u0107 and Roger Sala Reyner in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Igor Dobri\u010di\u0107 <\/strong>(Serbia) studied dramaturgy at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and attended a Master of Theatre at DasArts in Amsterdam. He works as a dramaturge for choreographers such as Nicole Beutler, Diego Gil, Alma Sodeberg, Meg Stuart, and as a teacher for institutions including SNDO and K3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
