M Dance

Borrowing from the figure of the hooligan, the cowboy and the dancer, this work examines the potency and slipperiness of these archetypes of tomfoolery, aggression and independence, by shapeshifting through a series of tight-to-soft embodiments. A tragi-comic dance of malleability, which visits some historical and contemporary tropes of masculinities – revealing the constructed, humorous and absurd nature of their performativity.
Alistair N. Watts is a Berlin based dancer and choreographer, whose work traces various art practices as an engagement with materiality, sensuality, instability, disorientation and communion.
